KARMA Automotive is looking for an exceptionally talented Supplier Quality Engineer to support the monitoring and development of KARMA suppliers.  The ideal candidate will have Advanced Product Quality Development (APQP) experience and have a proven track record of executing the AIAG Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables.  The person in this role will need to be able to assess supplier readiness to support program launch, PPAP execution, and then develop appropriate countermeasures to ensure success. Up to 90% Travel.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess supplier manufacturing facilities and determine if supplier is capable of meeting KARMA technical, manufacturing, and quality requirements

  • Assess supplier manufacturing facilities and determine supplier’s readiness to support program timing plans. Develop and implement countermeasures as needed

  • Drive supplier PPAP timing plans, and submission and approval dates to ensure adherence /compliance to program timing

  • Monitor supplier performance to program deliverables and part quality. Develop and implement countermeasures as needed

  • Provide Supplier Quality support to all KARMA functional team members but specifically to Purchasing, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing.

  • Conduct onsite supplier assessment for potential new suppliers to KARMA.

  • Conduct onsite supplier production readiness assessments.
  • Conduct APQP meetings with suppliers
  • Develop continuous improvement plans as appropriate.
  • Provide Supplier Quality support for functional team members.
  • Ensure flawless launch execution.
  • Assuring supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and product PPAP submission and part approval requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving supplier manufacturing, tooling and quality plans for new component parts and assemblies.
  • Reviewing supplier manufacturing tooling, processes and quality systems.
  • Implementing and monitoring supplier part qualification and certification processes.
  • Determining root cause of supplier manufacturing problems and implementing timely, effective, and efficient quality resolutions.
  • Improving quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing robust manufacturing and quality systems, or other technical support as required.
  • Providing technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over and ongoing production activities.

Qualifications

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the following Warranty/Aftersales areas:
    • Manufacturing Quality Systems: Interiors, Exteriors, Structure, Thermal, Electrical, Chassis, and Powertrain. (Minimum of four)

 

Knowledge base requirements:

  • BS Engineering/Manufacturing/Quality/BA
  • Three years' OEM or Tier 1 experience in Aftersales, Warranty Returns, or Field Support
  • 5+ years leading APQP projects
  • 5+ years PPAP Execution
  • Up to 90% Travel Required (Suppliers, Dealers, Assembly Plant)
