The primary emphasis of the Senior Cost Accountant is to ensure accurate financial reporting by analyzing manufacturing costs and variances, and working with the operations team to ensure appropriate procedures and controls are in place at the manufacturing plant. The candidate must be an energetic self-starter, able to collaborate with management and staff to identify areas for process improvement.  This role will work in our Moreno Valley manufacturing plant.


  • Business Partner to the manufacturing and supply chain team.
  • Identifies procedures and control improvements needed at the manufacturing plant (system and physical)
  • Project Management mindset with ability to lead initiatives and collaborate with operations team to develop action plans and execute improvements
  • Month-end reporting and analysis of manufacturing costs and variances, including comparison to budget and variance explanation
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing variances.
  • Develops quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Coordinates with production control, manufacturing, logistics to setup SAP master data (routing, BOM, etc.).
  • Attends weekly Engineering Change Board meetings.
  • Daily review of production orders to ensure, material, labor and overhead are transacted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to track production orders from inception to completion.
  • Experience in the analysis of production order variances. Analysis of actual production cost compared to standard cost. Ability to drill down into the details of Material, Labor and Overhead and identify and report variances to standard cost.
  • Understanding the flow of inventory from the time of warehouse receipt to consumption on the production floor.
  • Experience with material flows within a manufacturing plant.
  • Understanding of Return to Vendor and Quarantine Inventory that it is processed properly in the ERP system in a timely manner.
  • Additional projects as requested


  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • SAP or similar ERP experience.
  • 7 to 10 plus years’ solid cost experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s) and experience with Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of personnel within the manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with external auditors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently requiring minimal supervision.
