Karma Automotive has an immediate opening for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager-Body with strong skills in new product launch. Position reports to the Director of Manufacturing.  The Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing current Body Shop manufacturing processes and next generation Process, Equipment, and Tooling.  Prior experience working with Aluminum, Self-Piercing Rivets, Mig Welding is a plus.

The Advance Manufacturing Manager - Body is responsible and accountable for ensuring our equipment, processes and facilities have sustained capability to meet the performance objectives.  He/she engages with New Product Development team to ensure our new products take advantage of the latest in manufacturing processes and to ensure our new products are designed for optimized manufacturability.

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager will coordinate equipment installations and start-up processes in addition to being responsible for the capital investment strategy.  The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager will implement Equipment Best Practices and standardize processes as well as implement low cost country sourcing strategies for Test Equipment and Assembly Tooling


  • Research, examine, and introduce new manufacturing equipment in accordance with the facility strategic plans
  • Lead the implementation of joint design for manufacturing processes and develop sustainable core process technology and capability
  • Establish and follow up on full program implementation (i.e. timing, PFMEA concept, manufacturing feasibility, process, simulation, prototype, pattern build, hard tool build, engineering changes, tooling try-out, assembly verification, and program launch.
  • Actively involved in sign-off for checking fixtures, assembly equipment, automation, Administer Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), per ISO standards 
  • Manage and track the cost of all activities for the programs through all phases and into production. 
  • Manage and assist the AME team to implement the following activities related to Body Shop:  -engineering changes, quality improvements, productivity improvements, cost reduction programs.


  • Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and work related experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Product Launch
  • Position requires at least 2+ years’ experience in an Engineering Management role
  • Experience working in a Body Shop manufacturing environment. Body Shop tooling, equipment, processes, checking fixtures, assembly equipment and Automation. Knowledge of GD&T a must.
  • Demonstrate leadership experience.
  • Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of production systems and processes
  • Experience in new product development and launch activities
  • Familiarity with quality standards and inspection techniques. Understands CMM measurements and or vision map
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills (man, method, machine, material, etc...)
  • Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
