The Customization Purchasing Buyer will be responsible for managing the supplier involvement for Karma Automotive Customization Business.  Karma Automotive will rely heavily on outside suppliers for ideation, technical development and manufacturing of accessories, equipment, colors, materials and trims.  This position is part of the purchasing function and yet dedicated to accessories and bespoke content with the intent that the initiative will develop into a virtual business unit on an on-going basis. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in driving the requirements-gathering process for the accessories plan
  • Generate documentation of the capabilities of the potential supply base for accessories
  • Establish and build positive supplier relationships
  • Maximize the supplier bid list for the accessories plan and ensure an effective bid list selection
  • Create materials to communicate the supplier and purchasing function status on an on-going basis and support management team reviews in driving strategy development and program management
  • Drive quality throughout supplier network on an on-going basis
  • Drive innovation to upgrade the portfolio of accessories based on supplier ideas and input
  • Drive cost control to maximize profit and support Enterprise business model and P&L
  • Support the “go-to-market” plans for accessories and options involving the Karma Automotive manufacturing operation or post-production outside services as the product requires

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Advanced degree or post-college degree education is a plus

 

Related Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with automotive, luxury market and/or automotive accessory market a plus

 

Skill / Knowledge

  • Experience with supplier contracts, terms and conditions
  • Business acumen and an awareness of basic financial terms and practices
  • Familiarity with automotive light duty product development processes and terms a plus
  • Competency in MS Office products including Word/Excel/Powerpoint/MSProject, Skype (video and web conferencing)

 

Physical Requirements

  • Bending, stretching, reaching while in the office/shop/plant environment
  • Holding and lifting automotive parts of light/moderate weight
  • Travel up to 30% locally with domestic and international travel on occasion
  • Licensed driver
