Our Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining availability of enterprise infrastructure. Includes the entire landscape of hardware, software, middleware, that will comprise the IT ecosystem. These systems support business operations including all applications that support the day to day activities of the enterprise.

In the Karma Environment, our systems administrator is a behind the scenes role where if they are monitoring/maintaining everything correctly, everything stays stable and working for a productive enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Strive to maintain 100% availability of critical system.
  • Coordinate communications internally and with vendors to orchestrate system changes.
  • Take ownership of problems to find resolution internally or with third party partners.
  • Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and business critical applications.
  • Drive projects by understanding system dependencies
  • Work with all business units to understand application dependencies to deploy Windows/browser/java patching.

Tasks:

  • Monitor maintain Karma web site.
  • Provide enterprise level monitoring using SCOM.
  • Interface with business units to develop monitoring criteria.
  • Analyze current systems and recommend security configurations.
  • Automate general tasks via PowerShell.
  • Develop playbook for business-critical applications.
  • Document application dependencies to create synthetic monitors.
  • Work with IT management to develop disaster recovery playbook.
  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve work flow.
  • Support patching strategy for Windows server.
  • Support patching strategy for Windows 7 /10.
  • Work closely with systems engineers.
  • Train and mentor desktop support and act as a backfill for those responsibilities as needed.
  • Analyze compute needs for applications running on windows servers.
  • Recommend any resource changes needed to support business applications.
  • Help Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards by understanding customer use of systems and suggesting changes to IT leadership.
  • Review and analyze server reports and performance indicators to help root cause, and correct problems.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical major such as engineering or computer science (or equivalent education and applicable work experience)  

  • Server OS level knowledge Windows 2008-2016 Linux (Preferred) platform.
  • 2 years configuration/managing Systems Center Operations Manager
  • Knowledge of Unified Messaging Communications systems like Shoretel and Lync/Skype
  • Advanced knowledge of application availability monitoring and alerting with the ability to escalate prioritization.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Server/Application/Database/Client interface troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of application layer performance monitoring via tools like SCOM, SolarWinds.

  • Able to execute projects and not be afraid to ask questions if needed.
  • Be proactive in suggesting upgrades / efficiencies to help out the enterprise.

  • Minimum 6 years prior IT Systems Administration experience required
  • Minimum 2 years experience as Senior Systems Administrator
  • Working knowledge and experience with Skype for Business VOIP
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager
  • Networking experience required
