Responsible for sourcing goods, items, and services that will be used at Karma Automotive’s Moreno Valley Assembly Plant. The Industrial Buyer should set the price and ensure quality of these items and services, making sure they fit the needs and standards of Karma Automotive.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Plant Management to assess the needs of the Plant for goods and services. The goal is to support the manufacturing process in improving operator safety, product quality, manufacturing methods, and material flow.
  • Understand current price trends and sourcing strategies and use this understanding to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, deliverables, warranty and timing with suppliers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and look for better ones.
  • Organize and assess bids.
  • Contract with suppliers via spot buy or blanket Purchase Orders.
  • Follow up with suppliers on orders and Requests for Quote.
  • Setup systems for tracking stock of indirect materials either through MRP system or vendor managed inventory contracts.
  • Work closely with Plant Controller to align spend with Operating Budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Engineering field -or- equivalent experience (4+ years of experience in purchasing of materials for industrial manufacturing)
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrated supplier relationship management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with various priorities and due dates
  • Demonstrated strong cross functional relationship building skills especially with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Experience with an MRP/ERP system (Karma utilizes SAP)
  • Experience with a business system (Karma utilizes SAP)
  • Proficient with MS Office products including Excel and Word
