The Financial Analyst, Program and Planning is responsible for financial analysis, forecast, budgeting and modeling in support of the Engineering function of the company.   This role requires an understanding of the engineering development plans and the related project spend and engineering bill of materials estimates for the engineering areas and programs.  This is a highly interactive role that requires close collaboration with engineering and procurement to prepare financial plans, monitor performance, and take corrective action as necessary.  This role is also responsible for preparing the financial analysis for business cases, working with the engineering and procurement teams to ensure appropriate use of company resources.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Planning

  • Prepare forecasts and budget for the assigned areas of engineering
  • Track non-recurring engineering status (results and commitments) versus forecast and plan.
  • Track BOM status versus forecast and plan
  • Work with engineering and procurement teams to identify and track NRE and BOM reduction opportunities and risks
  • Work closely with Accounting team to ensure actual costs are appropriately captured
  • Work closely with the responsible business areas by providing cost center and program-related management reports including budgets, commitments, actuals and variances to plan.
  • Support the engineering team in preparing the financial analysis for business cases, ensuring development projects meet required financial measures (cash flow, payback, NPV, ROI, etc.). Ensure finance prospective is considered in key decisions including make versus buy, NRE versus BOM cost trade-offs, and long-term development project alternatives.  

Qualifications

  • BA / BS in Accounting, Business, or Economics - Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial planning or program finance.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate the information in a clear and concise way.
  • High energy, willing to work in dynamic, fast-paced organization
  • Strong team skills, an ability to work well with others, and to deliver on commitments.
  • Process-improvement mindset, focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and simplification
  • Software skills: Advanced Excel and PowerPoint. Access and SAP experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
