The Body Shop Group Leader should have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Team interaction within and outside the department, report writing, Supervision of production personnel, Aluminum metal finishing with active problem solving and other quality engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise successfully the Body department:
  • SAFETY – ensure all employees are working in a safe manner and environment according to company policy and OSHA requirements.
  • QUALITY - ensure that the Standards are met and satisfy their customers, including Paint, Assembly
  • PRODUCTIVITY – meet production schedules on a consistent basis with efficient use of manpower.
  • COST – Meet the department budget and improve the budget forecast (labor, materials & Equipment)
  • MORALE – empower employees to be fully engaged in their work, their department, their plant
  • Direct responsibility for all department metrics and ensure goals and metrics are met consistently
  • Responsible for all quality, problem solving and continues improvements within the department
  • Supervise all employees in the department
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective repair
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supervise the facility’s Team Leaders and team members; responsible for training and development
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Direct and coordinate Body operations within company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and safe plant.

  • Establish body policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for Body production goals.
  • Establish and maintain a positive community relationship.
  • Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
  • Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules.
  • Select and train assembly supervisory and administrative staff.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Schedule & conduct plant Body shop meetings.
  • Responsible for the product quality control for the assembly line.
  • Attend scheduled corporate training and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school or Technical school quality engineering  or BS – Quality/Mechanic engineering
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 year working in the automobile manufacturing, aerospace or related industry.
  • Body Shop Experience
  • 2-5 Years in Leadership Role
  • Able to read and understand product prints

  • Proven supervisory experience with good understanding of Lean principles.

  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality, reliability and process capabilities

  • Proficient in computer systems (Microsoft Office apps + statistical software)

  • Support Quality Specialists in response to customer claims and concerns by using verbal, written and graphical communication tools. Develop new scrap reduction projects and follow-up on already implemented projects
