Overview

Karma Automotive is looking for an exceptionally talented Director of Supplier Quality to lead two regional Supplier Quality teams in Michigan and California. The ideal candidate will have extensive OEM automotive experience, especially with regard to Advanced Product Quality Development (APQP), Current Product, and Supplier Development and have a proven track record of executing the AIAG Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverables.  The person in this role will lead the activities to assess supplier readiness to support program launch, PPAP execution, and then develop appropriate countermeasures to ensure success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team that is focused on developing and maintaining Karma Automotive’s Supplier Quality program.
  • Establish performance metrics, policies, and procedures in administering quality relationships with suppliers globally.
  • Prioritize schedules of supplier audits and potential suppliers in the new supplier approval process for the internal audits team as well as oversight for corrective actions from the suppliers.
  • Travel to all Karma Automotive and supplier locations for onsite support.
  • Work with Engineering, Plant Operations, Procurement and other Karma Quality functions.
  • Lead the supplier optimization and supplier development effort for Karma Automotive.
  • Drive supplier PPAP Master timing plans, glide paths and submission and approval dates to ensure adherence /compliance to program timing.
  • Monitor supplier performance to program deliverables and part quality. Develop and implement countermeasures as needed.
  • After a successful launch, manage Current Product Supplier Quality, on a day to day basis.
  • Lead and manage the Supplier Approval process.
  • Manage approved listing of suppliers to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Develop and implement supplier performance tracking system (i.e., scorecard, glide paths, Master Timing Plans).
  • Directly manage SQ Team activities from budgets to strategic focus.
  • Mentor and develop direct staff and provide consistent, actionable feedback.
  • Actively and continuously foster a culture that places top priority on product safety, product quality and supplier performance.
  • Oversee and support the supplier corrective action process.
  • Driver in implementation of new internal programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with key procurement stakeholders for supplier strategy development.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments.
  • Establish and attain Supplier Quality performance goals and improvement objectives for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory agency, government regulations, contract specifications, and company policies/procedures.
  • Provide support and leadership for supplier development initiatives.
  • Development/management of inspection processes & tools (receiving / source)

Qualifications

·   BS Engineering/Manufacturing/Quality (required)

·   MS Administration (preferred)

·   50%-90% Travel Required

·   15+ years OEM Experience

·   15+ years APQP Experience

·   15+ years PPAP Execution
