The Design Release Engineer - HVAC to evaluate/develop supplier parts to ensure product meets design targets. Develop drawings with CAD designers and release through the various program gate reviews.

 

Tasks:

  • Verify all part designs are manufacturable
  • Verify all part designs can be assembled on the vehicle
  • Ensure all part designs meet styling studio requirements
  • Ensure all part designs accommodate all build variation expected and still meet all vehicle level fit, form, and functional requirements
  • Coordinate designs with all interfacing departments
  • Give direction to CAD designers to complete part designs
  • Write engineering change documentation in FAST
  • Manage all supply base as required
  • Drive part development timeline
  • Ensure part availability for all pre-production and production builds
  • Provide all engineering requirements (GD&T, DVP, etc.) for supplier PPAP
  • Develop cost effective designs from both a tooling and piece cost perspective
  • Resolve all build issues resulting from part design
  • Support all build issues from a manufacturing and assembly perspective
  • Manage all part changes required

Responsibilities

  • Parts released on time for program development schedule
  • Production tools complete in time for SOP
  • Liaison to manufacturing, service and vendors to implement designs that is cost effective and manufacturable.
  • Ensure program timing is met.
  • Component specification development.
  • System mechanization development.
  • System bill of material generation and cost analysis.
  • Drawing development and release.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering degree or equivalent proven experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience with vehicle HVAC, Powertrain cooling component or sub-system design experience or Equiv.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Catia experience preferred.
  • Capable of leading suppliers
  • Team player and sense of urgency
  • Accountable
  • Able to travel domestically within US and internationally
