Design Release Engineer, Wire Harness sought by Karma Automotive, LLC in Irvine, CA.
Duties: Design and develop low-voltage and high-voltage automotive grade wiring harnesses for several platforms. Work with the wiring harness product development process through all necessary phases and gates for the entire vehicle. Utilize Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, including SmarTeam. Create and modify logical schematics. Develop and implement DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) for wiring harnesses. Ensure compliance with electrical safety specifications, including Functional Safety Requirements (ISO26262). Develop and review CAD 3D models and 2D prints for accuracy and implement changes. Review, update, and maintain Device Transmittal (DT) submitted by all module groups. Route the harness and define the attachment mechanisms and attachment points, in collaboration with the CAD Engineer. Integrate the wire harnesses into the vehicle in collaboration with the packaging team. Adapt wire harness systems to meet specifications and propose alternative designs. Develop capable supply base for current and future components. Create component test matrix/legs in accordance to Karma's DVP&R. Write technical specifications and change requests and release the harnesses in Karma's EBOM. Assess Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) in supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Support Certification, Safety, and Vehicle Integration Groups. Represent the Electrical Group in packaging meetings related to wiring harnesses and develop reports. Deliver high quality harnesses in line with program timing. Identify, diagnose and resolve electrical problems related to wiring harnesses. Research, evaluate and integrate current automotive wiring/connector technology, best practices and standards.
Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus two (2) years of automotive engineering, design release engineering, or related experience, including: at least one (1) year of experience working with the automotive product development process at the OEM or supplier level; developing designs of low voltage and high voltage wire harnesses; analyzing device transmittal and wiring schematics; and implementing Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
