Design Release Engineer sought by Karma Automotive, LLC in Irvine, CA.
Duties: Perform design release activities for the Gearbox-related powertrain components, including Rear Drive Module, Mounting System, and related supporting hardware/brackets. Support the Powertrain team in RDM to motor integration and assembly sequence. Coordinate suppliers for the gearbox systems and components. Work with powertrain hybrid controls engineer and traction drive systems engineer to provide prototype parts to support system level testing and engineering builds. Plan, support, and conduct tests as required. Create and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) reports and Design Validation Plans (DVP) for the gearbox system and related components. Create purchase requirements and other engineering administrative tasks as
required to support testing. Create technical specifications, design components and assemblies in Catia v5, and create 2D GD&T drawings in Catia v5. Release engineering change requests (ECR). Interface with other module groups as required on coordinated changes. Present changes to engineering management at change board meetings.
Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, plus one (1) year of automotive engineering, product engineering, or related experience, designing and developing products; testing products and recommending changes to specifications; working on design specifications, system development and validation of transmissions and related components; leading Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities; and defining component and system interfaces.
