    The HCU Architecture Manager is responsible for leading the architectural development and requirements documentation of the Hybrid Control Unit (HCU) as it relates to all major subsystems (e.g. GenSet, Traction Battery, Rear Drive Module, Thermal systems, etc.)

    Responsibilities

        • Manage and direct Hybrid Controls team on program and project work, including team development, budget planning and project timing control.
        • Lead the development of program-specific component specifications that ensure compliance to all VTS and Powertrain SSTS requirements (incl. performance, EMC, high voltage safety, thermal requirements, quality, reliability, and durability requirements).
        • Develop and coordinate hardware & software development within frameworks of functional rollout plan.
        • Develop and synchronize the phased calibration and development plan for the subsystem with program milestones and in conjunction with the vehicle level software release schedule.
        • Lead the effort on capturing control systems requirements for: core hybrid vehicle control functions, functional safety monitors, diagnostics control interfaces, etc.
        • Developing and reviewing control system function specifications to major subsystems including engine, high voltage battery, generator inverter, traction motor inverter, DC/DC converter, etc using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
        • Implementing algorithm using Auto-Code generation tools (e.g. Real-Time Workshop – Embedded Code, dSPACE TargetLink)
        • Lead calibration reviews to meet Karma PHEV performance goals (acceleration times, driveability, component protection, NVH constraints)
        • Lead control system peer design reviews.
        • Develop, propose and negotiate contingency plans in order to address and mitigate risk.
        • Lead the Problem Resolution and tracking process (JIRA) and provide feedback on status to tracked problems.
        • Work in conjunction with purchasing and supplier development to ensure that qualified suppliers are selected for future programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related degree
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in management role, fluent in team development, budget planning and project timing control.
    • 10 years or more of demonstrated progressive responsibility and hands on experience with automotive OEM high voltage electrical systems (such as inverter, converter, charger, or battery) used in electric or hybrid electric vehicles.
    • Capable of working with all levels of management, including top management.
    • 5 or more years of demonstrated hands on experience with control system architectures and control systems implementation.
    • Model-Based Control Design & Software development process
    • Experienced in control systems requirements specification
    • Experienced in control algorithm design using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
    • Basic experience/knowledge of using RTW Embedded Code/dSPACE TargetLink for Auto-code generation
    • Working Knowledge of On Board Diagnostics (OBD) Requirements
    • Experienced in structured analysis & design in software development.
