    Responsible for sourcing capital equipment and related services for both the Moreno Valley Assembly Plant and Parts Distribution Center. The Capital Equipment Buyer must make both tactical and strategic sourcing decisions to optimize quality, functionality, delivery, and cost for Karma Automotive..

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. The goal is to support the manufacturing process in meeting product specific manufacturing needs, improving operator safety, improving product quality, improving manufacturing methods, and improving material flow.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to formally define Specifications and Scope of Work within RFQ/RFP packages.
    • Understand the supplier landscape for design and build manufacturing equipment as well as installation and construction contractors.
    • Develop and follow strategic sourcing strategies to meet the needs of a project.
    • Foster and maintain relationships with suppliers.
    • Conduct all business with integrity, professionalism, fairness, and good corporate citizenship.
    • Organize and assess proposals on the basis of quality, functionality, delivery, and cost.
    • Negotiate pricing, deliverables, warranty and timing with suppliers.
    • Prepare and present sourcing recommendations for Executive Leadership approval.
    • Contract with suppliers via spot buy or blanket Purchase Orders.
    • Monitor supplier compliance with all terms and conditions of Purchase Orders.
    • Work closely with Plant Controller to align spend with Capital Project Budgets.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Engineering field -or- equivalent experience (4+ years of experience in purchasing of materials for industrial manufacturing)
    • Ability to read and interpret product specifications
    • Demonstrated organization and time management skills
    • Demonstrated supplier relationship management and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with various priorities and due dates
    • Demonstrated strong cross functional relationship building skills especially with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
    • Experience with an MRP/ERP system (Karma utilizes SAP)
    • Experience with a business system (Karma utilizes SAP)
    • Proficient with MS Office products including Excel and Word
