    The Chassis Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Engineer is responsible for coordinating activities and development of Chassis systems that are part of the vehicle driver assistance system. This includes but will not be limited to: Active Emergency Braking, Active Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and other systems as they are programmed for future production application.


    The Chassis ADAS Engineer reports to the Brake Engineering Supervisor.

    This position will coordinate with Chassis Brake and Steering engineers, the ADAS Systems group, Powertrain and software teams to help define system software and electrical requirements, DVPRs and DFMEAs; develop and participate in executing vehicle-level test plans for ADAS systems; and provide reports and program status.

    It is anticipated this position will require approximately 30% travel.

    This position operates out of Karma Automotive’s beautiful new Corporate Headquarters in Irvine, CA.


    • Assume the role Chassis team leader and expert for global regulatory and industry-standard test requirements for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems; assist in development of Technical Specifications and Statements of Work and internal Chassis budgeting/forecasting for ADAS programs.
    • Work with the Karma Electrical Engineering ADAS team, Powertrain and both Chassis and Chassis- Brake Design and Release Engineers to develop performance targets, test cases, test plans, DVPRs and DFMEAs for Chassis components and Software that support Active emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Cruise Control and other Advanced Driver Assistance Systems as they are implemented.
    • Benchmark competitive ADAS systems and identify functional and performance differences in Chassis system hardware and software. 
    • Cascade targets and performance requirements to supplier and work to integrate them in vehicle systems.
    • Awareness of real-world performance demands on and limitations of ADAS systems. Awareness of competitive ADAS system performance pros and cons. Experience in ADAS system test and development, with a passion to anticipate, test for and mitigate nuisance behaviors and ensure safe, consistent, reliable performance.
    • Participate in system development testing, calibration and test trips; help the Chassis electrical ADAS team calibrate the system;  work with suppliers on required software changes; identify design and performance areas requiring improvement and issue reports as necessary.
    •  Identify and present solutions for technical or equipment gaps critical to success  
    • Provide regular status and test reports to support key recommendations
    • Assist in deepening the technical expertise of the Brake and Chassis Team for Driver Assistance and Autonomous Driving technologies. Awareness of and experience with ISO26262 and functional safety requirements. Experienced in developing DFMEAs and HARA analyses. Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO/TS16949 as they apply to braking systems.
    • Support prototype and production assembly events at supplier and Karma manufacturing locations.
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.


    • 5-10 years experience preferably in 1) Chassis-related Advanced Driver Assistance systems; and /or 2)  Brake System Controls (ie, ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control) and/or 3) Active Braking and Active Cruise Control Systems; at recognized OEs or Tier 1 suppliers. Experience should include design/release and development/test engineer roles.
    • BS Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) minimum
    • Experience in and knowledge of ISO26262 standards; ISO14001, safety hazard development of software/hardware test cases for HIL development. Experience in analyzing and proving system qualification to ISO26262 and ASIL-D standards. 
    • At least 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following development environments; Visual Studio, Vector Canalyzer, CAPL,  Labview , MatLab, Simulink, PiSnoop.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following communication protocols; ODX, UDS, CAN, LIN, GMLAN, OBDII, KWP2000.
    • Awareness of current and anticipated NHTSA, NCAP, SAE, EU and China market requirements for Driver Assistance Systems. Experience in brake system campaign avoidance and FMVSS certification issues.
    • Experience with basic objective brake system measurement tools, and data analysis
    • Approximately 25-30% travel can be expected during peak program gateways, to our nearby 550,000 sq ft Moreno Valley, CA assembly plant as well as domestic testg sites, ADAS-critical public locations and possibly international locations
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
