    The Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer (EHS) position is responsible for developing, directing and supporting the implementation of EHS programs at Karma Automotive (KARMA) in order to ensure compliance to local, state & federal regulations, and adherence to KARMA EHS policies and procedures.  The Corporate EHS Engineer is also responsible for pro-actively identifying and resolving hazards in the workplace.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Manage compliance with local, state & federal environmental, health and safety regulatory standards.
    • Must possess technical knowledge and the ability to interpret OSHA standards including but not limited to IIPP, Hazard Communications, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, Forklift Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Hot Work, Construction Safety, PPE, Respiratory Protection and others.
    • Must possess technical knowledge & the ability to create regulatory reports as required including Air Permitting, Hazardous Waste Management, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, DOT, HMBP and Waste Water Treatment Systems. Experience completing required regulatory reports and permit applications to agencies.
    • Develop recordkeeping processes that meet regulatory requirements for OSHA, Air District, Water Quality Control Boards, HMBP, injury illness and others.
    • Must understand, deploy and introduce processes and methods used to evaluate and control employee exposure risk. This includes developing written programs, selecting required equipment and creating and delivering employee training.
    • Must develop and maintain environmental, health and safety performance metrics.
    • Will be required to directly interface with government regulatory agencies.
    • Travel to other KARMA locations may also be required including KARMA corporate offices located in Irvine, CA.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
    • 8-10 years’ experience directly responsible for environmental, health and safety working in a manufacturing environment
    • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State safety and environmental regulations including but not limited to OSHA/Cal-OSHA, SCAQMD, Water Control Boards and EPA/DTSC.
    • CIH, CSP certifications desired.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of AutoCAD, Visual Basic, etc. is considered a plus.
    • Ability to utilize approaches that require innovation and change.
    • Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments and proactively manage time.
