    Within the engineering department, the Senior Design Release Engineer (DRE), Infotainment will be responsible for the development and oversight of new components, sub-systems and applications for the automotive industry. This is a highly visible role in a dynamic and collaborative engineering team. The position reports to the Director of Infotainment Systems and Connected Car.  


    • Create and review product requirements, develop specifications and information releases with technical accuracy
    • Conduct release activities to fulfill launch targets
    • Conduct design reviews with suppliers both internal and external
    • Provide component level ownership in the Infotainment module
    • Design, develop and test hardware systems, components and testers
    • Responsible for test and validation of components and systems.
    • Design and develop BSP, drivers and execute board bring up
    • Design and develop PCBA test software to validate PCBA manufacturing
    • Conduct analysis to determine root cause in component problem resolution
    • Work closely with suppliers to realize the design and requirements
    • Assess and validate supplier development and test processes
    • Asses and validate our manufacturing process as related to Infotainment systems
    • Participate in all phases of product life cycle management
    • Active driver of R & D activities associated with new technologies and application to Karma’s product line.
    • Provide innovative ideas and create opportunities for Karma’s intellectual property portfolio.
    • Active participation in process and product improvement.


    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 10 years of electronic design and development
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the circuit design, analysis and simulation
    • Comprehensive knowledge of PCBA design and analysis software.
    • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing
    • Proven ability to create high-quality, re-usable hardware designs
    • Proven ability to verify designs through simulation.
    • Experience with microcontrollers and/or DSP’s, GPU, FPGA’s
    • Experience leading development efforts with suppliers
    • Must excel in a collaborative development team environment.
    • Must be able to work effectively with staff and customers at all levels.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be process and quality driven


    Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Education:


    • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
    • Preferred experience with automotive bus communication protocols (CAN, LIM, UART, MOST, Flex-ray, etc.)
    • Preferred experience with various test equipment, including DVM, oscilloscope, Automotive Databus Analyzers (ADA) and USB protocol analyzers
    • Preferred experience with Altium
    • Preferred experience with PSPICE
    • Systems Architect experience in Infotainment and Connected vehicle space.
