    The Director, Vehicle Testing, will lead all testing activities for the systems and components for the complete vehicle development process.  This will include early loads collection and development, cascading of loads and testing requirements, to full vehicle, system, and component testing.  This position will work with all testing activities in the company including Regulatory, Certification, and Compliance testing as well as all system/dyno and sub-system/component testing.  The successful candidate should be adept at Reliability and Confidence strategies and Weibull analysis to ensure sample size development and develop launch requirements for the program with the Chief Engineer. Additionally, this Director should have experience with metrics such as Mean Miles Between Failures.  These testing requirements should be connected to the Voice of the Customer and the Customer Usage schedule through developed Customer Profiles for the Karma Brand.

    This position will be based in Irvine, CA


    • Development and execution of Durability cycle and confirmation via vehicle level loads collection
    • Cascading of all durability loads to all systems and components
    • Development and execution of powertrain reliability testing
    • Development and execution of Corrosion testing
    • Target setting and for Reliability and Confidence testing
    • Utilization of Weibull analysis for all testing to generate confidence in all systems and components
    • Verification of all System and Component testing such that they all match the cascaded loads
    • Optimization of all testing schedules for test cell optimization, testing components to meet required Reliability and Confidence testing, and optimize resources to generate testing confidence
    • Experience with MMBF or other such metrics.
    • Ability to work cross functionally with different Engineering Disciplines including Regulatory, Certification, and Compliance testing
    • Support and improve test plans and procedures including Regulatory, Certification, and Compliance testing
    • Proactive issue resolution/tracking and negotiation with cross functional partners.
    • Cradle (pre-program approval) to production physical test evaluations


    • Minimum B.S. degree in engineering discipline; M.S. or MBA preferred.
    • Minimum 15 years’ experience in with vehicle level testing and development
    • Minimum 3 years in a senior management role
    • Experience in operating data acquisition systems and sensors
    • Strong knowledge of vehicle performance targets
    • Demonstrated background working in cross-functional teams and an ability to influence design based test results
    • Strong organizational skills.  Good logical problem solving and analytical skills
