The Occupant safety Simulation Engineer helps with development to guide restraint system development and regulatory compliance support. They will also support the safety team for consumer safety rating reporting and manage sled testing.
Build and validate MADYMO models.
Interact with structural safety simulation inputs and may require to use Dyna3D input or may need to run them as well.
Develop and confirm interior geometry required for occupant protection
Manage sled tests at restraints suppliers and report out the findings.
Use test data, supplier input, module team’s inputs to update and validate models.
Recommend and guide restraint development through Safety team to internal development teams like airbags, seats, seatbelts, steering systems, sensors, ADAS.
Occasional travel within USA to attend full vehicle tests, sled tests and component level tests and few trips to international locations as and when required.
Create restraint system specifications to produce 5 star performance in EU/NA/CN NCAP.
Work with structural teams to produce desired crash pulses.
MS in mechanical engineering
5+ years of Experience in Automotive safety simulations using MADYMO software
Strong knowledge of fundamentals of automotive safety systems and interiors domain
Experience in live projects related to Occupant Safety System development and validation (Seat Belts, Air Bags, Steering system, Child restraint systems).
Experience in managing sled testing and component level testing for safety components like airbags, seat belts, pretensioners and retractors.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, communication skills and leadership skills.
High level Expertise in MADYMO and LS-Dyna.
Knowledge in pre/post processors like XMADgic, MADPost, Hyperview, ANSA or similar software.
Knowledge and reporting skills for regulatory compliance protocols and vehicle ratings as per consumer safety protocols including all NCAPs and IIHS.
Strong Knowledge in interior plastics
Ability to travel with in US and abroad occasionally.
Knowledge in NASS databases and safety research topics is preferred not required.
