    The Chassis Electrical Integration Engineer reports to the Brake Engineering Supervisor. This position is responsible for leading the electrical integration of electronic Chassis systems into the vehicle, including but not limited to Brake Controller, Electric Park Brake, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Electric Power Steering and other features. The Electrical Integration Engineer also assists with Functional Safety development for Chassis Electronic Systems by helping the Chassis Subsystem DRE develop the safety case and HARA analyses and monitoring progress during development. This engineer will also assist with problem diagnosis and resolution. This position is located in our Irvine, CA facility.





    The Chassis Electrical Integration Engineer reports to the Brake Engineering Supervisor. This position has the lead for ensuring Chassis Brake Team and other Chassis subsystems with electrical and software requirements integrate safely and seamlessly with the rest of the vehicle. The responsibilities for this position include:

    • Define software and electrical requirements for Chassis Brake Controls, Electric Parking Brake, Driver Assistance features and other Chassis electrical systems to ensure compatibility and meet functional requirements
    • Ensure Electrical testing methods reflect service extremes to ensure electronic reliability 
    • Represent Chassis in the integration process of Brake System and other Chassis Electrical systems into the overall vehicle architecture, including requirements definition and testing prior to software release
    • Coordinate activities of the Chassis team related to software and electrical development to ensure compliance with Functional Safety/ISO26262 guidelines. Work to develop HARA analyses and provide input to system and component DFMEAs for Chassis electrical-related components. Develop test cases, monitor progress and develop solutions where shortcomings are identified
    • Help in developing, testing and releasing diagnostic software for the KarmaSync service tool 
    • Support quality investigations; meet quality improvement objectives. Lead or assist problem solving activities as appropriate. Identify and propose solutions for software, technical or equipment gaps critical to success  
    • Provide regular status reports and create documentation to support key decisions
    • Knowledgeable in engineering design processes throughout product life cycle (concept, development, product support, end of life);
    • Perform routine administrative tasks (timecard, vacation requests etc)
    • Assist in deepening the technical expertise and grow the Brake Team for Driver Assistance and Autonomous Driving technologies.
    • Support prototype and production assembly events at supplier and Karma manufacturing locations


    • Education and Experience: BS Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred) minimum
    • Service technician certifications a plus
    • 5-10 years combined experience in automotive Chassis Electrical System development, preferably Brake Control Systems, at  recognized OEs or Tier 1 suppliers;
    • Strong knowledge of brake control and electric park brake systems at the system architecture or system development level. Experience with basic objective brake system measurement tools, equipment and data analysis.
    • Familiarity with CAN network function and communications protocols. Demonstrable experience in utilizing CAN bus logs and identifying anomalous signals to root-cause system faults and failures
    • At least 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following development environments; Visual Studio, Vector Canalyzer, CAPL,  Labview , MatLab, Simulink, PiSnoop.
    • At least 5 years’ in one or more of the following communication protocols; ODX, UDS, CAN, LIN, GMLAN, OBDII, KWP2000.
    • Experienced in working across activities (ie, with Electrical, Software and Manufacturing engineers as well as field service engineers and technicians,) and maintaining good relationships while root-causing complex problems
    • Ability to multitask during times of high pressure
    • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues to senior management as well as assembly plant personnel in formal and informal settings; able to handle stressful situations with composure.
    • Candidates with experience with driver assistance and autonomous driving braking features will be highly desirable   
    • Approximately 25% travel required to our Moreno Valley Assembly Plant, winter test sites and other domestic  locations.
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
