    ** This is up to a 6 month Contract position with the option to be converted to full time. **

     

    The Design Release Engineer -Power Electronics is responsible for the design, development and project release of Power Electronics components and subsystems, from prototype design stage to validation and production. This position requires broad expertise in both analytical and laboratory, including in-vehicle performance testing.

     

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    The position includes, but is not limited to:

    • Deep understanding in electrified powertrain and power electronics applications
    • Create SOR/SOW for Power Electronics module and ensure the specifications meet the vehicle and subsystem requirements.
    • Ensure the power electronics components meet the deliverables, tech specs as well as integration to system level
    • Coordinate with Tier 1 supplier on deliverables and track the entire project
    • Lead the teleconference call with Tier 1 supplier including cross functional team
    • Manage Power Electronics hardware & software development scheduling within framework of functional rollout plan
    • Support development of program-specific component specifications and vehicle system integration
    • Develop and execute Power Electronics validation and verification plan and report
    • Significant laboratory and vehicle-level testing and calibration, with irregular, extended and/or weekend working hours.
    • Create reports which address critical vehicle operation issues, engage cross-functional engineering support as required.
    • Track status and report to supervisor/manager and engineering
    • Utilize issue tracking tool (JIRA) to log software defects and manage day-to-day issue resolution plans
    • Support opportunities for process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and retention
    • Support, organize and lead customer/supplier meetings
    • Supports program deliverables - specifically alignment to overall vehicle development schedule

    • Works with tier 1 support on tracking entire project timing and deliverables
    • Communicates directly with management and cross-functional leaders as required
    • Must display ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans
    • Must be able to accept personal responsibility and accountability for major analytical and planning assignments
    • Strong teamwork skills. Able to develop consensus and move the program forward. Develop win-win situations

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

      • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with specialty in power electronics.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Knowledge of calibration and data acquisition tools - CANalyzer, CANape, etc.
      • Familiar with electrical laboratory instrumentation (power supply, oscilloscope, etc.)
      • General understanding of automotive industry standards such as SAE, ISO.
      • Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems in Electric Vehicles or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV).
      • Strong problem solving skills.
      • Sense of urgency and strong attention to detail.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: (In addition to required):

     

    • Hands-on experience with automotive Power Electronics including DC-DC converter, on-board charger, etc.
    • High Voltage laboratory experience and/or training
    • Experience with automotive OEM production-intent development programs.
    • Familiar with electronic circuit board design and development especially for automotive application.
    • Demonstrated expertise with Control system calibration tools (Etas INCA, ATI Vision, etc.)
    • General understanding of ISO26262 – Functional Safety
