    The Vehicle Integration & Validation Engineer will work closely with the Program Team, the CAD Design team, Design Release Engineering teams and Supply base to develop and validate functional objectives for the Body/Exterior attributes and relevant features on the Karma Automotive line of products.  This engineer should have experience in the specific features or functional area such as Body, Chassis, Electrical, Powertrain, Interior, Infotainment, or Advanced Driving Systems.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Through specific functional targeting and benchmarking, this engineer will work with these teams to connect the Strategic Targets with specific Functional Objectives and determine program feasibility through design best practices and content definition then follow through with virtual and physical validation for all Functional Objectives. 

     

    This engineer will develop targets, best practice designs, and validate the Functional Objectives for the Body/Exterior  functions and other features. 

     

    Vehicle Integration also maintains responsibility for the Engineering Fleet of vehicles and this employee would be a part of the team to manage those resources.

     

     

    Tasks:

    • Create and maintain technical specifications for the specific vehicle attributes and features.
    • Lead regular Vehicle Integration reviews with the broader team or Design Release Engineers, Packaging Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, etc to develop and achieve all Functional Objective targets.
    • Develop and execute testing and validation of the attributes and features with documentation via DVP&R
    • Meet all performance, packaging, cost and timing objectives.
    • Lead, or support as required, any required feature tuning programs
    • Other deliverables as defined by manager.

     

              Primary Responsibilities:

    • Lead engineering team for development and achievement of functional objectives for their relevant program.  Develop and understand true Voice of the Customer and relevant Functional Objectives.
    • Lead virtual and physical validation efforts for engineering concepts, Design Verification and Process Verification phases of the program
    • Act as technical lead within Vehicle Integration for specific vehicle attributes and features
    • Manage vehicle attributes and features proactively, with focused program management mind-set.   Lead project from start to finish.
    • Support development / testing strategy and timing plan to ensure compatibility with overall program; monitor resources as required to minimize risks; support alternate plans as required.
    • Help Certification Team where necessary to ensure system meets relevant certification requirements.  Support with data & testing as required.
    • Help develop and support prototype and production assembly events at domestic or international locations.

    Qualifications

    • BS Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • 5 + years’ experience
    • Prior experience with evaluation of automobiles
