    The Powertrain Calibration Associate is responsible for assisting the Engine Controls, OBD, and Emission Compliance teams with tasks related to system development and testing

    Responsibilities

    • Perform engine testing and aid in calibration in-vehicle and on the genset dyno.
    • Execute software release testing for the Engine Control Module (ECM) and record test results in Polarion.
    • Document issues discovered during testing and development in JIRA and work with the relevant ECM or OBD team members to see the issue through resolution.
    • Execute and document Production Vehicle Evaluation (PVE) (j)(1) and (j)(2) tests.
    • Aid in development, execution, and documentation of OBD system validation test plan.
    • Support emission testing and documentation activities.
    • Support development and testing of ECM service procedures implemented in Karma’s service tool (KarmaSync) and manufacturing tool (MFT).
    • Create purchase requisitions and track through receipt of purchase order for procurement of necessary test equipment and development hardware.


    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Interest in hybrid powertrain systems
    • Familiarity with electric and hybrid powertrain control systems.
    • Familiarity with internal combustion engine hardware, calibration, and control.
    • Hands-on work experience with good problem solving skills.
    • Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally with calibration and development engineers, ECM team, HCU team, OBD team, Powertrain Systems team, Software Quality team, and Vehicle Integration team).
    • Interest in working in an automotive start-up.
    • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
    • Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans.
    • Strong teamwork skills. Able to develop consensus and move the program forward. Develop win-win situations.

    Desired Qualifications (In addition to required)

    • Experience working with ETAS hardware and software including INCA; CANalyzer and Vector Suite software/hardware; DiagRA.
    • Experience working in automotive engineering start-up environment.
    • Working knowledge of PHEV / EV powertrain architecture
    • Working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and diagnostic protocols (J1979, UDS).
    • Experience performing in-vehicle testing utilizing break-out-boxes or other fault insertion methods.
    • Experience with SAP, JIRA, and Polarion.
