    The Material Planner is to ensure a continuous supply of material to support production and preproduction vehicle and powertrain builds. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, technical background and a passion for electric vehicles.  The Material Planner will work with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to fully understand demand and supply needs and balance those against operational goals while incorporating LEAN manufacturing principals. 


    • Plan and schedule various purchased sub-components needed to build prototypes for new programs. Support program/s from prototype phase through start of production until transition to production sustaining team.
    • Ensure a continuous supply of material to support production and preproduction vehicle
    • Work with suppliers to establish the appropriate delivery schedules for individual components, specifying quantity and frequency targeting Just-in-Time delivery; coordinate with Supply Chain Specialist/s and Logistics as needed.
    • Identify potential supply risks and inventory exposures by aligning supply chain processes with product development project plan milestones.
    • Maintain accurate MRP Purchase Order data to reflect confirmed delivery quantities and due dates from suppliers and resolve inventory discrepancies in proprietary MRP system and SAP.
    • Manage assigned areas, suppliers, manage material releases/forecast, shortage reports.
    • Work with suppliers to manage problems and obtain problem resolution.
    • Coordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and production to ensure expectations are met while minimizing obsolescence exposure.
    • Analyze MRP/ RPS weekly/daily, issue 862/830 to supplier to ensure uninterrupted supply of material.
    • Identify and support continuous improvement ideas.
    • Resolve supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance in conjunction with the Quality Team.
    • Review supplier ASN for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, process receipts into MRP/ERP system as required.
    • Coordinate expedites of material from suppliers as needed to support the production schedule and meet customer requirements.
    • Communicate and resolve shipment discrepancies with the supplier to ensure continuous supply of material.
    • Communicate any potential material issues to the management team via the Escalation Process.
    • Communicate to the shipping and receiving associates any out of the norm shipments and or deliveries. Coordinate, prioritize and communicate materials status, production priorities and delivery commitments for any exceptions (outside the normal process
    • Manage inventory: work to right-size, perform cycle counts, investigate and resolve discrepancies to avoid material shortages.


    • Bachelor’s degree. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) or Operations background is strongly desired.
    • 2-5 years related experience in materials management, production planning, material scheduling, or purchasing in a manufacturing company is required.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, including ability to maintain and enhance Excel-based material shortage reports, is required.
    • Familiarity in SAP is desired.
    • Strong analytical capabilities, including ability to optimize delivery costs and inventory levels, are desired.
    • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on demand is required.
    • Ability to present material status effectively in weekly executive meetings is required.
    • Open-minded, collaborative and team-oriented attitude is required.
    • Self-motivation and resourcefulness are required
    • Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision is required.
    • Strong work ethics required.
