    The Manager of Powertrain Cooling will manage the Powertrain Cooling department for multiple Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV) programs.  Oversee development to ensure all vehicle and subsystem technical specifications and regulations are met.  Create long term plans for thermal technology and organizational development.  Final responsibility to meet program budget, performance and timing deliverables.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Manage Powertrain Cooling group (engineers, designers, DREs [Design Release Engineers]) to meet Engine and Powertrain Electronics Cooling systems requirements for the following components:
      • Internal combustion engines (ICEs)
      • HV Battery
      • E-motors
      • Inverters
    • Hold weekly meeting with DREs to track latest status of all components/modules.
    • Supervise RFQ package creation to be submitted to potential suppliers.
    • Supervise packaging of all systems and components.
    • Supervise DVP&R and DFMEA at component/module level and support at system and vehicle level.
    • Review and approve Vehicle Technical Specifications and Subsystems Technical Specifications to ensure they’re consistent with high quality, best value and program total cost.
    • Work closely with plant personals and support build issues as required.
    • Ensure production deviations are completed as required to support build requirements.
    • Work closely with SQA Team supporting APQP and PPAP process.
    • Ensure that CRs are in place for responsible components/modules and BOM has been updated with all necessary documents.
    • Ensure that all MRD dates are met, delivering high quality modules in line with program timing.
    • Approves development plans and budgets. Assures they are on track.
    • Develop and build department. Mentor subordinates to conduct objective and subjective testing, data analysis, necessary CAE and correlation to vehicle results.
    • Build cooperative relationships with engineering service providers and suppliers that results in long term cooperation and best possible support.
    • Maintain a technology roadmap and assess technology for future applications and improvements. Assure new technology is implementation ready.
    • Assist vehicle program team to develop alternatives and recommends future improvements to existing systems and assists in the development of future architectures and functionality rollout plans.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
    • 10+ years of related responsibility, preferably with OEM vehicle hybrid thermal architectures, control and testing.
    • Working knowledge of best practices and methods for vehicle thermal systems.
    • 10 years of experience leading and managing engineering teams.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
