    • The Manager, Interior Engineering will manage the overall development, execution, resources and deliverables associated to the IP, Console, door trim and X-Car Beam.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the interior commodities, including but not limited to the following key activities: internal resourcing & ramp-up, development, production, PPAP, & launch;
    • Manage and coordinate internal resources and external suppliers to develop, package and design all components and assemblies required for completing the vehicle interior on time;
    • Maintain the interior issues list & ensure issues are opened, root caused & resolved in a timely manner;
    • Manage and monitor the interior program budget with a common goal to deliver under budget;
    • Organize and lead interior design reviews and support total vehicle design reviews;
    • Manage the interface with the Design Studio to ensure aesthetic targets & DFM requirements are harmonized;
    • Manage the interface with the Vehicle Integration department to ensure the entire interior meets all global safety requirements and internal targets;
    • Support the application & finalization of typical sections and dimensional specifications & tolerances;
    • Support sourcing activities as needed, including the creation and delivery of interior sourcing packages and providing educated tooling cost & time estimates;
    • Must be able to assess the needs of the program and apply accurate cost and timing estimates;
    • Must be able to evaluate all associated tasks & apply accurate completion timing;
    • Must display the ability to identify problems, elevate concerns, recommend solutions & resolve issues;
    • Must be able to accept personal responsibility/accountability for program execution & quality of work;
    • Must be able to communicate efficiently & effectively with internal & external departments & work equally well within a team or individually as required;
    • Must be able to create and relay reports and presentations to senior leadership;
    • Must be able to foresee & plan resolution for issues effecting the critical path of the module and vehicle program;
    • Mentor & guide engineers & lead by example;
    • Evaluate existing staff & potential hires.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSME, BSEE). MBA is a plus;
    • 10+ years’ in Automotive Interiors with proven management experience;
    • Knowledge of automotive vehicle systems with an emphasis on automotive interiors, including but not limited to; interior assemblies, components, materials, tooling, packaging, & dimensional specifications;
    • Knowledge of Instrument Panels, Consoles, Door trim, vehicle cross car beams, ambient lighting, electrical wiring, speakers, HVAC, airbags & restraints;
    • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, Best Practices, Interior Development Processes, Global Safety Requirements, Regulations & Zones (including FMVSS, ECE/ECC and head impact effects on interiors) Continuous Improvement and Aesthetic Interior Design (Studio);
    • Knowledge of Automotive Interior Supply Chain and a basic understanding of sourcing processes;
    • Program Management (plan design, cost, timing, execution) & Team Leadership experience required;
    • Basic PC Skills (Email, Excel, Word, and relevant technical software). CAD experience is a plus;
    • Ability to travel nationally & internationally may be requested.
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
