    The Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) will lead the Innovation group that includes Business Development & Strategy, Electrical Engineering Architecture, Global Design, Autonomous Technology and Ecosystems & Infotainment.  This role will be responsible for the strategy roadmap that maintain our competitive edge; identifying value partnerships, recommend changes in our existing approaches, new products, product design, and product mix to maximize our market potential.

     

    The CIO is further responsible for execution the company’s 4+1 Business Strategy and plays a key role in driving revenue and profitability growth by bringing new products to markets, identifying new go-to-market opportunities, and expanding into new markets.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Leverage the Karma Product Lifecycle Management System, the CIO looks at market trends, future customer requirements, future technological developments, competitor plans and any changes in the marketplace, to make sure Karma is well positioned.
    • Drive Karma’s efforts in the direction of mobility ecosystems to bring people and cars together in innovative and versatile ways.
    • Lead a dynamic team in the research, development, and design of new products in the areas of high technology, software, and infotainment design. This role will apply principles and best industry practices of computer science and engineering management to come up with creative solutions in developing new products.
    • Provide a software development plan that meets the future needs of Karma Automotive, LLC and markets.
    • Implement advanced strategies to focus on technologies related to electrification, autonomous driving, diverse mobility, and connectivity.
    • Defines Proof of Concept (POC) platforms and provides ability to test and demonstrate new technologies.
    • Lead the strategy office, including strategic planning process and portfolio/roadmap management.
    • Drive alignment on market segmentation and areas of focus.
    • Drive alignment between Product Management and R&D on investment requirements and manage priorities to increase efficiency.
    • Manage the market analysis and competitive benchmarking, and drive the long-range plan and revenue modeling.
    • Drive connectivity strategy and planning – market and segmentation strategy, product roadmap and platform plans, channel strategy, partners strategy, go-to-market strategy, and long-term planning and investment strategy.
    • Have a customer-focused mindset for delivering a product that is centered around a great customer experience.
    • Follow the developments of the megatrend technologies, such as Powertrain Electrification, ADAS and Autonomous Driving, AI, Telematics, Mobility, Infotainment system, Virtual Personal Assistance, and the new technologies supporting the direction of the lifestyle.
    • Select and recommend proper partners to the engineering team; work closely with engineering team and the technology suppliers to acquire and implement the technology to our products, and eventually make profit from the technologies.
    • Provide technical leadership to build cutting edge software and to foster a culture of innovation.
    • Establish group objectives and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to processes and tools required for team engineering goals.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems. Advanced degree preferred
    • 15+ years of experience in product design or working in the automotive or high technology industry
    • 8+ years' experience in a leadership/management level role
    • 10+ years of related work experience in software development and engineering
    • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering management / project leadership position
    • 5+ years in agile software development experience with test driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment
    • Must have full cycle of software product development experience from requirement definition, design, coding, test plan, and product testing
    • Excellent ability to identify and drive resolution to engineering problems
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
