    The Finance Manager (FM)is responsible for short-term and long-term financial modeling of P&Ls and cash flow for the vehicle and other businesses, including revenue, cost of sales, op ex/cap ex, and working capital.  The financial models will be used for cash planning, decision support and resource allocation.  The financial models will also be used to help evaluate and shape new business opportunities.

     

    The FM will also prepare financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and modeling in support of the Sales and Engineering functions of the company.   The FM will partner with the Sales and Engineering teams to prepare budgets/KPIs and measure results.  The FM will gain an understanding of the Sales and Engineering projects, the hiring/spending required for their projects, and prepare budgets for the projects and overall functional areas.   The FM will work with the Sales and Engineering teams to prepare business cases for key projects.   The FM will monitor results versus budgets and KPIs for the projects and functional areas and influence the action plans to improve performance. 

     

    This is a highly interactive role that requires close collaboration with our business partners to prepare financial plans, monitor performance, and take corrective action as necessary. 

    Responsibilities

    FINANCIAL MODELING AND DECISION SUPPORT

    • Prepare P&L and cash flow model for new business opportunities. Prepare financial analysis ensuring projects and investments meet required financial measures (cash flow, payback, NPV, ROI, etc.).  Prepare sensitivity and scenario analysis as appropriate.
    • Prepare current year revenue and cost of sales financial model for vehicle programs and other businesses as part of enterprise operating plan and cash management.
    • Prepare revenue and cost of sales models for vehicle programs and other businesses and used in program P&Ls, business cases and long-term cash planning. The financial models are typically for 3 YR – 5 YR periods.
    • Prepare near-term and long-term op ex/cap ex and working capital models for enterprise cash planning, vehicle programs and new business opportunities.

     

    SALES SUPPORT

    • Manage the financial planning process including budgeting and forecasting for all areas of Sales and Marketing. Develop KPIs as part of the budgeting/forecasting process; measure actual results versus forecast and target to drive desired outcomes.  Measure effectiveness of marketing spend (e.g., media, events, etc.) in terms of leads generated and conversion to vehicle sales.  Ensure budgets are structured to ensure accountability in achieving the budget and KPIs, helping to drive superior performance.
    • Prepare financial analysis for Vehicle Sales Incentive and Marketing Program proposals; partner with Sales and Marketing team ensure proper consideration of financial analysis in key decisions; work with Accounting team to ensure proper accounting treatment
      • Karma retail vehicle sales incentive programs (captive and 3rd party dealers)
      • Karma sales commission/incentive plan
      • Dealer profitability and health analysis (captive and 3rd party dealers)
      • New sales channel development

     

    ENGINEERING SUPPORT

    • Manage the financial planning process including budgeting and forecasting for all areas of Engineering (e.g., headcount planning by program, ED&D/Tooling for Programs, non-program expenses and equipment). Develop KPIs as part of the budgeting/forecasting process; measure actual results versus forecast and target to drive desired outcomes.  Ensure budgets are structured to ensure accountability in achieving the budget and KPIs, helping to drive superior performance.  Work with the Program Finance team to ensure program EACs are properly incorporated into the program P&Ls and consolidated financial outlook.

     

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work closely with Accounting team to ensure actual costs are appropriately captured for the Sales and Engineering functional areas. Prepare month-end open PO and budget versus actual review; prepare close accruals.  Prepare monthly actual versus forecast variance analysis.
    • Work closely with the responsible business partners in Sales and Engineering by providing cost center and project-related management reports (overall amounts and KPIs) including budgets, commitments, actuals and variances to plan.
    • Work with the responsible business partners to Sales and Engineering to identify and drive cost efficiency opportunities. Provide regular reporting to drive improved performance.
    • Ensure adequate financial controls for Sales and Engineering in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
    • Partner with Sales and Engineering teams to prepare long-term financial models for headcount, op ex/cap ex, and other key areas. These models are a key component of the vehicle program P&Ls and are key to proper long-term enterprise cash planning.
    • Support the Sales and engineering teams in preparing the financial analysis for business cases, ensuring projects and investments meet required financial measures (cash flow, payback, NPV, ROI, etc.). Ensure finance perspective is considered in key decisions. 

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting. MBA a plus;
    • Minimum of 10 years Financial Analysis and Modeling Experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting an operation with full P&L responsibility.
    • Experience and knowledge of engineering for a complex product preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate the information clearly and concisely.
    • High energy, willing to work in dynamic, fast-paced organization
    • Strong team skills, an ability to work well with others, and to deliver on commitments
    • Process-improvement mindset, focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and simplification
    • Software skills: Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience working with SAP preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
