    The Vice President, Powertrain and EV Drivetrain Systems, is responsible for leading the Design and Engineering of all powertrain and EV Drivetrain systems encompassing all phases of product development from architecture to production launch.  This position is a rare opportunity to work for a company with exciting challenges, great opportunities with broad responsibility, new products, high-visibility and recognition.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the integration of the powertrain, power electronics, and energy storage subsystems for plug-in hybrid electric and battery electric into globally competitive vehicle applications (Engines, Drivelines, Engine Adaptation Components, Fuel Systems, Transaxles, Chargers, Battery Packs, Inverters, Electric machines, DC-DC converters, thermal, HVAC, functional safety, high voltage distribution).
      • Multiple programs management and continuous improvement.
      • Meet global regulatory requirements such as emissions, OBD II diagnostics and compliance execution and Interface to government regulatory bodies
    • Development of a high performing team of Managers, Supervisors, System Engineers, and Design Release Engineers, including growing the engineering team to meet execution demands for multiple Karma vehicle programs.
    • Foster creativity to engineer drivetrain systems for low volume production at low costs.

    Qualifications

    • 15-20 years of demonstrated progressive responsibility and hands on experience with automotive powertrain engineering including internal combustion engines, electric drive and hybrid control, power electronics, battery pack systems, emissions and regulatory testing.
    • Hands on, creative mindset with experience advancing automotive propulsion systems using advance engineering and leveraging applied R&D methodologies.
    • Track record of success engineering Best In Class in conventional powertrain and hybrid/EV automotive propulsion systems
    • Ability to deal effectively with and lead within a fast-paced, dynamic and change-oriented environment.
    • Excellent leadership skills with experience building and leading engineering and business teams that may be in multiple locations (i.e. Ca. and MI). International experience within China preferred.
    • Ability to partner and work collaboratively in a cross functional team environment.
    • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required with a preference for a graduate degree in the same of related engineering discipline
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable
