The primary role of the Electronics Hardware Engineer is to lead the development of new hardware products, roadmaps and applications for the automotive industry. This is a highly visible role in a dynamic and collaborative engineering team. The position reports to the Principal Hardware Engineer of Infotainment Systems and Connected Car.  

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test hardware systems, components and testers
  • Responsible for test and validation of components and systems.
  • Create and review product requirements, develop specifications and information releases with technical accuracy
  • Design and develop BSP, drivers and execute board bring up
  • Schematic development and design reviews.
  • PCBA layout and design reviews.
  • Design and develop PCBA test software to validate PCBA manufacturing
  • Electronic hardware and low-level software root cause analysis, debug and problem resolution
  • Conduct analysis to determine root cause in hardware problem resolution
  • Work closely with suppliers to realize the design and requirements
  • Assess and validate supplier designs, development and test processes
  • Participate in all phases of product life cycle management
  • Active driver of R & D activities associated with new technologies and application to Karma’s product line.  Drive proofs of concept to validate design and theories.
  • Provide innovative ideas and create opportunities for Karma’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Active participation in process and product improvement.
  • Contribute to technical solutions from design through release including design review, test, peer review, and documentation.
  • Set and maintain high standards of hardware quality by following industry best practices.
  • Review and improve on existing systems, making use of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional teams, end users, and third-party contacts to design, develop, document and maintain software deliverables for various projects
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with technical, testing and hardware team members across the technology organization.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent, Master’s Degree or higher preferred
  • Primary experience developing electronic hardware and systems
  • Experience with hardware design, layout, development and board bring up
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, team environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices for hardware development
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable
