The Environmental Health and Safety Manager manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for both company facilities located in Irvine and Moreno Valley.  ** The role will be based in Moreno Valley but regular attendance in Irvine ar basis is required (70% - 30% spit).**

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies.
  • Develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Oversees licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling.
  • Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety.
  • May be the point of contact for emergency personnel.
  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.
  • Works closely with executive team, as well as managers and other facility team members at each site.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, or similar discipline; and 8-10 years of directly related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience should include both office and industrial manufacturing environments, preferably in California.
  • Experience wiht AQMD strongly preferred.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of local and state compliance regulations.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and experience in working with all levels of employees; as well as outside governing agencies.
  • Must be experienced in conducting needs-assessment, and creating, presenting, and defending proposals.
  • Must be experienced in working with outside contractors – work proposals, price quotes, schedules, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
